HP4000 Series Maintenance Reset
How to Reset the maintenance count after replacing the maintenance kit on the hp 4000 range of laser printers.
Instructions
Warning: This should be done only after replacing the maintenance kit. Which should include a new fuser and various rollers.
- Turn the printer off
- Hold down the value - and item - keys (the left side)
- Switch the printer on
- Release the keys when the display changes to reset maintenance count
and if that doesnt work...
The above instruction might not work on all versions of the formatter, If it fails to reset the maintenance count then you have to enter the Service menu and reset the counter from there as follows-
- Turn the printer off
- Turn the printer on
- Press the select button when the memory starts to count and hold down until all three LEDs illuminate
- Release the select button
- Press up arrow until the message new maintenance kit is displayed on the control panel.
- Press select, the display will read new maintenance kit and the printer will reset.
Note: For HP LaserJet models 4200, 4300 and 9000 hold down select and cancel job when powering on and hold until the 3 LEDs illuminate.
On the HP LaserJet models 4250 and 4350 you need to wait until the memory starts to count before pressing select.
Hint: The Above also works with the 4250, 4350.
